As part of our ongoing emergency preparation, Citrus College will participate in the Great California ShakeOut drill on October 16, 2025 at 10:16 a.m.
Students and employees are included in our emergency preparation and training efforts as part of this scheduled drill.
Drill Details:
On Thursday, October 16, 2025 at exactly 10:16 a.m., all faculty and staff are requested to direct their classes or the people around them to Drop, Cover and Hold for approximately one minute. The exercise will then be followed by a campus wide evacuation drill. Please follow instructions from your building's emergency information officer (EIO) or the college's emergency notification systems.
Faculty/Staff:
Prior to Thursday, October 16, 2025, please review earthquake and evacuation procedures with your classes. emergency response procedures (ERP) flip charts should be posted in all classrooms.
For the evacuation component of this scheduled drill, please emphasize the following:
1. Do not use elevators
2. Assist disabled to the "Emergency Evacuation Assistance Areas (EEAA)" on upper floors; do not attempt to evacuate them. (If this were a true emergency, Citrus College trained staff would respond and safely evacuate all disabled students.)
3. Once evacuated from the building, move at least 150 paces (300 feet) away from the building and evacuate to the safest, closest Emergency Gathering Area (EGA).
4. Faculty should take roll sheets with them to account for students after evacuation.
5. Do not re-enter the building until an "all-clear" message is provided.
For purposes of the earthquake drill, faculty and staff are encouraged to share the following informational earthquake safety resource. This is an exercise that, quite literally, could save lives.
Emergency preparedness is a shared responsibility, and your participation is a critical component of the campus plan. Additional emergency preparedness information can be found on the Campus Safety website.
If you have questions, please contact Ben Macias, director of campus safety.
