Study Ranks Citrus College Among State's Top Community Colleges
Glendora, Calif. (Jan. 19, 2018) - Citrus College has been recognized as California's fourth‐ranked community college in a recent study conducted by Schools.com, a definitive source for education information.
The website reviewed the state's 114 community colleges, scoring them on a 10‐point scale in six areas: percentage of students enrolled in distance education, cost of attendance, student‐to‐faculty ratio, graduation rate, number of transfers to the University of California system and flexibility.
Citrus College was ranked as the fourth best community college in California and the second best in Los Angeles County. The college's impressive transfer, graduation and student retention rates were cited as factors that contributed to the notable ranking.
As stated on the website, "[Citrus College] outpaced all other schools on [the] list in terms of graduation rate and featured a first‐year student retention rate within eight percentage points of the top school in the state."
According to Superintendent/President Dr. Geraldine M. Perri, Citrus College's impressive transfer, graduation and retention rates can be attributed to a college‐wide commitment to student success and completion.
"It is a distinct honor for Citrus College to be ranked as one of the top community colleges in California. Recognitions such as these are made possible by the college's faculty, staff and students, who have enthusiastically embraced the institutional mission of increasing student success and college completion," she said. "With the leadership of our governing board, we will continue to search for innovative ways to provide students with the academic preparation needed to reach their personal and professional goals. Our progress in these areas is a source of pride for the entire college community."
When conducting their study, Schools.com evaluated data provided by the National Center for Education Statistics, the California Community College Chancellor's Office and the University of California and California State University systems.
