Citrus College Instagram Receives National Award
Glendora, Calif. (April 20, 2020) – Citrus College's Instagram account (instagram.com/citrus.college) was recently awarded second place in a nationwide contest hosted by the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR).
According to NCMPR's website, the Paragon Awards are "the only national competition of its kind that honors excellence exclusively among marketing and PR professionals at two-year colleges." Awards are presented to those who made outstanding achievements in design, communication and social media. At the 2020 Paragon Awards, there were nearly 2,000 entries in 53 categories.
The college's Instagram account, managed by the Citrus College Communications and External Relations Office, won silver in a social media category for its clean aesthetic and eye-catching imagery.
"I am exceptionally proud of the staff in communications and external relations for winning this prestigious award, as well as for their willingness to adopt new ways of sharing good news about the college," said Dr. Geraldine M. Perri, superintendent/president of Citrus College. "I am confident that the college will continue to be promoted effectively due to their work ethic and innovative spirit. Hats off to our team of communicators!"
At the time the award was presented, Citrus College's Instagram account had 2,770 followers and 365 posts. In 2019, a series of Instagram "stories" promoting the college's campus safety department was created in-house by communications and external relations staff.
"Winning a national award is incredibly satisfying and a huge affirmation of the work produced by this office," said Melissa Utsuki, executive director of communications and external relations. "I am excited to continue seeking new ways of promoting the many benefits Citrus College offers students, and I am grateful to do so with this wonderful team of multimedia professionals."
