The Classified Staff Development Committee, functioning as it had been for decades, ceased at the conclusion of the spring 2023 semester.
Responsibilities and Purpose
The Classified Staff Development Committee welcomed input from all college and community sectors. It fostered collaboration, not only within the committee, but encouraging feedback from various campus constituencies. The committee effectively and collectively increased classified staff participation and involvement in various campus activities, as well as enhanced their skills and knowledge to advance the college's educational mission. Through training, workshops, projects, tuition reimbursement, and recognitions, the committee elevated collaboration to a higher level, generating substantial results and cultivating goodwill. Furthermore, the committee worked with numerous faculty members, using their expertise in leading workshops and seminars, to engage and train classified staff. The committee helped the student population by ensuring classified staff was well-informed, trained, and motivated to foster student success and completion.

'Above and Beyond' Classified Development Award
For some ten years, the 'Above and Beyond' Classified Development Award (ABCD award) honored and recognized outstanding classified employees. The members of the CDC developed the criteria and the prize process to highlight classified employees who have gone above and beyond in their work efforts. The award criteria included demonstrating the college's mission statement, collaboration, service, and dedication. It was awarded quarterly with consultation and recommendations from managers and vice presidents. Recipients were publicized in the campus bulletin, staff lounge area, library lobby, the former Classified Staff Development Committee website, and the campus marquee.
