Student achievement celebrated at annual ceremony

More than 100 Citrus College students were recently recognized for their stellar academic performances and positive contributions during the 56th annual Achievement Awards ceremony.

Family and friends joined Citrus College faculty and staff in the Haugh Performing Arts Center on May 30 to celebrate the accomplishments of Citrus College's best and brightest students.

"Although this year's group of honorees hails from a variety of backgrounds and have different academic goals, they share a commitment to excellence that is impressive," said the college superintendent/president. "On behalf of the Citrus College community, I congratulate these outstanding students for achieving such remarkable success both in and out of the classroom."

Among the recognitions presented during the celebration were the prestigious Keys of Knowledge, which is the college's highest academic honor. This year's recipients were Ibrahim Abboud, Jezreel Wooster Bodley, Darren M. Chang, Peter Francis Conley, Eduardo Contreras Herrera, Rosanna Guajardo, Elizabeth Amezquita Hartwell, Joshua Alexander Jones, Madeleine Marie Lewis and Julian Tobias Verdon.

The 2019 Female Athlete of the Year honor was presented to volleyball player Gina Lipscomb, while the 2019 Male Athlete of the Year honor was presented to basketball player Josh Caston. Finally, Distinguished Student Awards were presented to 100 students whose high academic success in a given program place them at the top of their class.
