Created in response to the unique challenges foster youth face when navigating college, NextUp provides coordinated academic, financial, health and social support to help students persist, complete their goals and thrive.

If you have ever been in foster care, were a ward of the court, lived with a relative such as an aunt, uncle, sibling or grandparent or had DCFS involvement during your teenage years, you may qualify.

You belong here, where care, advocacy and meaningful support are built into your college experience.

Welcome Day College Resource Fair

NextUp staff and student ambassadors connected with students during the Welcome Day College Resource Fair as part of Welcome Back Week 2025. The event provided an opportunity to share campus resources, build community and offer ongoing support for foster youth students at Citrus College.

Region VIII – Rise Above: Redefining Our Story, Together

Citrus College NextUp students attended the Region VIII Foster Youth Success Initiative Conference, an inspiring event focused on empowerment, resilience and educational success. The conference provided students with valuable information, resources and motivation to continue pursuing their academic and personal goals.

Fun fact: To celebrate their participation, every student received a complimentary Knott's Berry Farm ticket.
