CLASSROOM TECHNOLOGY GUIDE

Citrus College classrooms are equipped with instructional technology designed to support both in-person and remote teaching. While the specific technology available may vary depending on the age and configuration of the classroom, all technology-enabled classrooms provide a standard set of tools to assist instructors with classroom presentations and instruction.

A dedicated classroom computer is installed within the podium and provides:

  • access to the campus network and internet,
  • Connection to the classroom display system and
  • Microsoft Office and other instructional software

The classroom computer is connected to either a ceiling-mounted projector or a large-format display screen for presenting instructional materials.

All classroom technology is controlled through a button panel or touchscreen control system located on or near the podium. The control panel allows instructors to:

  • control audio levels,
  • power the display system on and off,
  • select presentation sources and
  • switch between classroom devices

Each classroom is equipped with a document camera that allows instructors to display:

  • books and worksheets,
  • physical objects and demonstrations and
  • printed documents

The document camera image can be projected directly onto the classroom display.

For safety and emergency situations, a telephone is mounted on the wall near the front of the classroom. This phone provides direct access to campus safety and other emergency services when assistance is needed.

Each classroom contains a presentation podium, typically located at the front of the room. The podium serves as the central hub for classroom technology and provides access to instructional equipment and controls.

The podium includes connections for external devices (HDMI and some instances USB Type C) allowing instructors to connect:

  • personal laptops
  • tablets
  • other presentation devices

These connections enable instructors to display content from their own devices through the classroom projection system.

All Citrus College classrooms are equipped to support remote and hybrid instruction. Classrooms may include either a Meeting Owl or a fixed camera system that enables instructors to conduct classes and meetings with remote participants using platforms such as Microsoft Teams or Zoom.
