Beta Nu Eta, the Citrus College chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society (PTK), is celebrating another national honor!
Chapter members were recently notified that their submission to the international honors society's annual Honors Case Study Challenge had earned one of only four honorable mentions. This marks the third consecutive year the chapter has earned this distinction.
Their project, "Election Perspectives — State Redistricting: A House Divided Once More," addresses the timely issue of gerrymandering, or manipulating voting district boundaries to favor a political party. The submission included a case study summary, an essay on future implications, three to five open-ended discussion questions and academic resources for additional study.
"We are incredibly proud of this achievement," said Areej Qasqas, adjunct faculty member and PTK advisor. "While the entire chapter contributed to the initial topic discussions, I'd like to recognize Alexander Algan, Beta Nu Eta president; Ben Parker, vice president; and Theo Gonzales, secretary, for their leadership in writing and editing the final submission."
Beta Nu Eta will receive their certificate of recognition at Catalyst 2026, Phi Theta Kappa's international convention scheduled for late March in Baltimore. They will also be recognized in the Parade of Scholars, which is held at the beginning of the Hallmark Awards Gala.
Congratulations to the entire Citrus College Phi Theta Kappa Beta Nu Eta Chapter! Thank you for once again representing Citrus College with excellence — we are so proud of you!
