The study abroad program had a successful summer offering in Kyoto, Japan, with 43 Citrus College students enrolled in the four-week experience. Instructors Senya Lubisich and Theresa Villeneuve reported that the cohort represented Citrus College and California splendidly.
Outside of instruction, students participated in a cooking class, experienced a Zen monk's lunch at a temple and visited Nara, Hiroshima and many other destinations in Kyoto and throughout Japan.
The students were also asked if they felt that study abroad is a valuable educational experience. One student stated, "Yes, I think being abroad allows you to see and learn about other cultures, which in turn gives you a certain respect and understanding you may not have otherwise."
