Monrovia High School and Citrus College are about to make history!
This spring, 11 dual enrollment students are on track to earn their high school diplomas and associate degrees for transfer in administration of justice at the same time – the first time this has ever happened at Citrus College!
Through the College and Career Access Pathways (CCAP) partnership, they have been taking Citrus College courses since 2022, gaining valuable credits with no tuition, fees or textbook costs.
Not only is the Monrovia High School cohort preparing for careers in law enforcement, corrections and the courts, but many of them are also first-generation college students who are opening doors for themselves and their families.
This milestone is made even more special thanks to community support. Doing Good Works, a social-impact organization, will provide in-kind contributions of curated graduation gifts for each student, while the Citrus College Foundation has awarded an innovation grant to the dual enrollment program to cover the cost of caps and gowns.
And this is just the beginning! More students from Monrovia and Azusa high schools are expected to follow suit when they earn associate degrees for transfer in sociology next year.
Congrats, dual enrollment students!
