ELLA FITZGERALD SCHOLARSHIP OPENS DOORS FOR VOCALIST

Citrus College vocal jazz student Grace Dierking is our first EVER Ella Fitzgerald Memorial Scholar! Grace was chosen based on her desire and motivation to study music at Citrus College, as well as her demonstrated financial need. She will receive a full scholarship to Citrus College, which includes tuition and fees until she completes her degree or transfers; school supplies, such as textbooks; and music equipment, including a laptop and software to help her reach her educational goals.

Grace is a top performer in the Citrus College Visual and Performing Arts vocal jazz and choral programs. She holds leadership positions in multiple performance ensembles. Her goal is to transfer to the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music at California State University, Long Beach as a jazz voice major. Citrus College instructor Sean Fitzpatrick was also a recipient of the award during his undergraduate education, and he is responsible for this scholarship is being offered at Citrus College through the Citrus College Foundation.

"This is an incredible opportunity for Grace," said Mr. Fitzpatrick. "This is also a very special full-circle moment for me, being that this scholarship made a huge impact in my life when I was a student recipient."
