  • Enrolled at Citrus College as your primary college with continued enrollment through spring 2025
  • Have a declared major in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM)
  • Pursuing your first bachelor's degree
  • Have passed at least two STEM courses by the end of spring 2025
  • Have passed pre-calculus (MATH 175) by the end of spring 2025
  • Have a minimum GPA of 2.5
  • Willing to make a full-time commitment (work 40+ hours/week)
  • Required to participate in the 2025 STEM Research Symposium at Citrus College in September by presenting your research poster

The Summer Research Experience (SRE) offers placement within the Citrus College STEM Career and Academic Pathway (CAP) majors.

Placement for selected participants is determined by project availability. SRE sites may have specific major requirements for their research projects, which may not align with your current or intended STEM interests.

Students applying to SRE need to pass pre-calculus (MATH 175) by the start of the SRE program in June, regardless of their placement or AP scores.

The SRE program prioritizes placement for students who meet all eligibility criteria. However, there may be limited paid placement opportunities for international students.

Undocumented students placed in the STARS program at Cal Poly Pomona are eligible to participate and receive a stipend. However, certain research programs, such as Project RAISE at Cal State Fullerton, only allow undocumented students to participate as non-paid volunteer researchers.
