Jim Woolum retired from the Glendora Police Department at the rank of lieutenant with over thirty years experience in local law enforcement. Mr. Woolum came to Citrus College as a full time faculty member in 1999 after teaching for twenty-four years as an adjunct instructor at the college. In addition to classroom activities, he has held several faculty leadership positions on campus including Academic Senate president.

Mr. Woolum began his career in law enforcement at Ontario Police Department as a police cadet while attending police science classes at Mount San Antonio College. He entered military service and was deployed as a combat infantryman in the Republic of Viet Nam. Following military service, he was employed as a police officer at Glendora Police Department where he worked patrol and detective assignments. He was promoted to sergeant where he worked in administrative, patrol, and community relations positions. As a lieutenant, he worked patrol watch commander and detective commander positions.

Mr. Woolum holds an Associate in Arts from Mount San Antonio College, a Bachelor of Science from California State University Los Angeles, a Master of Public Administration from University of Southern California and has completed additional graduate level courses at California State Polytechnic University Pomona, in conjunction with the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Command College.
