Joshua McGinnis is planning to pursue a degree in mechanical engineering with a concentration in mechatronics.

Citrus College student Joshua McGinnis was selected to participate in a summer research program for undergraduates in unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) technologies (i.e., drones) at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona.

This 10-week program is funded by the National Science Foundation and gives participants the opportunity to get involved in cutting-edge research. UAV technology is one of the fastest-growing sectors of the aerospace industry.

In the program, Joshua will participate in innovative research on the dynamics and control of UAVs, collision avoidance, artificial intelligence and flight test experience. The program also features research symposia and seminars designed to engage students in professional development.

After graduation, Joshua is planning to transfer to California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.
